We're ready for Spring!

The weather has been crazy up here. We had snow on March 1st - another snow day to tack on to the end of the school year. The following week it was 70 degrees and as I'm typing this a wind storm is beginnning to kick up.

Baseball season started so we are back to long days and a season of my cooking! I've been trying recipes from Cooking Light with some success. It's been so long since I've done the grocery shopping that it's kind of an adventure.

I've really had to make a concerted effort to read lately. I've been busy playing with Norah, keeping up with work, gathering gear for my climbing class and preparing to move. A friend of mine passed on a great book called The Highest Tide. It's a quick read and it inspired Luke and I to take Norah to the beach to look at the tidepools. It's a coming of age story of a boy that lives in Washington, along the South Sound. I've also been reading The Botany of Desire. It sounds kinky, but it's not. It's a book about the evolution of four basic human desires and the plants that satisfy them - sweetness (apple), beauty (tulip), intoxication (marijuana) and control (potato). It's really fascinating - I'm not quite finished yet. I've also started Three Cups of Tea. This one follows a man as he rebuilds schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan. It's another inspiring story - reminding me that I, too, have talents that could be put to better use. And, I'm continually reading In Search of Belief as I further my own spiritual journey. Other books sitting by my bed are The Weathermakers, and Freedom of the Hills (my climbing bible!).

The countdown is on! Only 20 more days until we move into our new home! Goodbye moldy, stinky apartment! Funny enough, I have a climb on the day we're supposed to move in! I think I was at a class on the day we moved in to the apartment too. I'll miss all the fun - again. Good thing Luke doesn't mind. In fact, he prefers that I'm gone when he's working - less nagging!

Have a wonderful March!
